Asia Pacific Interest Group | 2013 Federal Election – potential impact on our relationship with Asia

Event:
With the early announcement of the next federal election it is appropriate to consider some of the likely issues that will surface during the campaign and the potential impact on Australia’s interaction with Asia. How will each party demonstrate their Asian credentials, are there any real differences between them and are they in a position to make any significant difference.
At this event, we will discuss:
• International relations with countries in the Asia region e.g. Japan, China, Burma – Are there any differences between the main parties and what will this mean?
• Initiatives to support Australian businesses trading with other Asian countries – Which policies will maximise opportunities through improved terms of trade, removal of red tape, tax incentives?
• The carbon tax – What impact will there be in continuing with or removing the tax?
An initial presentation will be given by Chris Campbell, followed by some lively debate and insight from the floor. Chris Campbell is currently the Internal Audit Manager for Munich Re Australasia. Prior to his current role he was the Senior Manager Business Risk within Corporate Audit Services of ING and the Head of Internal Audit for Zurich Financial Services Australia.
